About Me

About Me

I am the owner of a self catering accommodation establishment in beautiful Noordhoek, a coastal valley suburb of Cape Town, nestling between the slopes of the Table Mountain National Park and a spectacular 5 miles of white sand beach.
I grew up in the south peninsula,  where I now live, but have worked in Johannesburg, Botswana, and two very opposite Middle Eastern countries; accumulating a great love of the peoples, cuisines, cultures of this wonderful world which has been given to us in which to live. I have been fortunate to travel extensively both for business and pleasure. My wife is Malaysian Chinese so we have strong ties to another fascinating and wonderful country, which we visit often.
I am passionate about sharing our beautiful part of the African continent, and am involved in promoting local tourism; writing articles for several websites as well as blogs. My working background is in the field of logistics management. Although sort of retired, I am presently consulting to a utility company in Saudi Arabia on contract.

Interests

Classic Cars : My long time hobby is the restoration and enjoyment of some classic British Sports cars; Triumph roadsters and Mini variants. You can see my Triumphs or find out more at our club website : http://www.capetriumph.za.org/

Classical Music : I love classic Italian opera and regard the Opera DVD with subtitles as the next best invention after cheese  and onion chips I also enjoy classical symphonic music , but have an amazing collection  of old vinyl from the 50’s to 70’s which I play on a classic transcription turntable. You can’t beat good old Rock ‘n Roll.

Cooking/Food : I guess I could be called a foodie. The best part of working overseas and of travelling is to taste the rest of the world’s food. I cook as a hobby and have a flustered ambition to publish a food blog.  We enjoy eating out; but having a Malaysian Chinese wife who is a great cook means that we enjoy interesting food every day, even at home.
